What to do with watch that was sent to me?

I had a broken Timex watch that I sent back to the manufacturer. A month or so later I get my watch back along with a brand-new watch, and a bill for $25. Timex stated they couldn’t fix my watch and so they sent me a new one, but were asking me to pay for it. I never asked them to send me a new watch. I’m not going to pay $25 for it. I would sent it back to them, but they didn’t even give me option of sending it back–and I’m not going to pay anything out of my pocket for shipping. Now I’m getting letters from them saying I owe $25. Does anyone know if I’m legally responsible to send this watch back? Again, I didn’t ask them to send it to me.

That was very cunning of Timex to do that – usually they’ll send you a postcard indicating that your old watch was not capable of being fixed. If they sent you a watch in exchange for your old watch – then I wouldn’t worry about you owing them 25.00 smackers. Keep the watch and tell everyone you know the story. If Timex ever sends you a letter with a stamped envelop – write them back and ask them for $50.00 for all the word of mouth you are giving them.
