1886 Elgin Pocket Watch?

How much would a pocket watch be worth that is this old. The pocket watch even still works and keeps time. The chain and everything is still with it. It is practically brand new.

I could give you a good estimate if you gave a better description, the age hardly matters unless it’s more than 300 years old. The jewel count, case material and originality are what matters. Put it this way, if it has a 7 jewel movement and isn’t in the best condition then you could probably sell it for 50 bucks at the most, if it’s a 23 jewel watch with a solid gold case and has been serviced every year since it was new then it could go for 2,000+, and don’t say it’s practically brand new, i hear that all the time but then when i look at the actual movement it’s just as old and worn as any watch of it’s age.

The only way to keep a watch like new would be to replace jewels, pivots, mainsprings, and the entire balance assembly every few years since the day it was made which wouldn’t be practical no matter who made the watch.
